The Rivers State Judicial Service Commission established under section 197 (1) (c) of the 1999 Constitution is the executive body that handles matters relating to appointment, discipline and promotion of Rivers State’s judicial officers and their support staffs.
It is chaired by the Chief Judge of the High Court of Rivers State.
Pursuant to the Rivers State Magistrate Courts Law, No. 2, 2004, the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission, by this notice, announces vacancies in the Office of Magistrate in the Magistracy of the Rivers State Judiciary, and hereby calls for expression of interest/application from suitable candidates for appointment as Magistrate of the Rivers State Judiciary.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the following positions in the Rivers State Judiciary.

A) LEGAL/RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Qualification: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and Barrister at Law
(B.L.)
B) HIGHER REGISTRAR
Qualification: A University Degree or its equivalent.
C) CONFIDENTIAL SECRETARY
Qualification: University Degree or Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies.
D) CLERICAL OFFICER
Qualification: WASC/GCE/NECO (at least five credits including English Language and Mathematics).
E) BAILIFF
Qualification: WASC/GCE/NECO (at least five credits including English Language and Mathematics).
F) MOTOR DRIVER/MECHANIC
Qualification: FTT III + Valid Driver’s Licence + WASC/GCE/NECO/SSCE (with at least three credits with pass in English Language and Mathematics).
G) CRAFTSMAN
a. Carpenter
b. Electrician
c. Mason
d. Plumber
Qualification: TT II & III + WASC/GCE/NECO/SSCE (with at least three credits with pass in English Language and Mathematics).
H) SANITATION PERSONNEL
Qualification: First
School Leaving Certificate (FLSC) or its equivalent.
I) SECURITY PERSONNEL
Qualification: First School Leaving Certificate (FLSC) or its equivalent.
J) MESSENGER
Qualification: First School Leaving Certificate (FLSC) or its equivalent.
SALARY:
The positions are pensionable. Salaries are in accordance with Public/Civil Service Salary Structure.
Note:
- Application for the positions A, B, C, D and E must in addition to the qualifications specifically indicated, show evidence of CERTIFICATION in BASIC ICT APPRECIATION.
- Applicants for all positions must not be more than 40 years of age as at 30th of April, 2023.
